SeromYx Systems was founded in July 2019, with operations starting in December 2019. We are a biotechnology service company that provides clients and partners with unprecedented insight into the functional antibody response using the Systems Serology platform developed at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. This comprehensive suite of high-throughput biophysical and antibody effector function profiling assays is coupled with machine-learning analytics and can be used to diagnose disease state; discover correlates of disease outcome; develop vaccines, immunotherapies, antibodies, and drugs; define surrogate regulatory endpoints; and design Phase IV and product improvement pathways. Rapid growth has resulted in the need to expand our scientific team to provide leverage to the CTO as we expand our customer footprint and product offerings.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SeromYx is seeking a talented, experienced, and motivated Senior Scientist to join our growing team. As a Senior Scientist, the successful candidate will split their time between the laboratory and the office and will serve as a key day-to-day scientific point of contact for clients, contributing to all aspects of a project from initial inquiry and proposal development to preparation of the final report. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the Senior Scientist will be expected to work alongside an existing team of Scientists in performing the SeromYx assays and in the collection, curation, and analysis of large data sets evaluating antibody functionality and identifying correlates associated with disease outcome.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Research

  • Perform experiments, manage sample and inventory, operate and maintain instruments, analyze data, report results to colleagues and clients
  • Conduct assays utilizing flow cytometry, Luminex, and capillary electrophoresis
  • Process, culture, and maintain human cell lines and primary cells
  • Adhere to and improve on-going QA/QC programs ensuring quality control of equipment, reagents and cellular components
  • Improve current processes and workflows and implement new methodologies and technologies based on literature searches and discussions with the CTO
  • Work productively in a team environment and independently, and deliver against timelines.

Project Management

  • Coordinate the scientific team on project execution including:
    • organizing and prioritizing projects according to timelines
    • working with the team to create, modify, and execute project plans
    • tracking the progress towards deliverables
  • Draft and edit study plans and reports, proposals, and SOPs
  • Look for opportunities to improve workflows and technologies to enhance productivity
  • Keep the CTO and CEO up to date on progress and issues as they arise

Customer Management

  • Interact with clients over email, teleconference, and/or face-to-face meetings;
  • Prepare updates for the client during all stages of the project, including participating in regular calls and meetings to discuss project progress
  • Draft initial proposals and interim and final reports
  • Compile and QC data sets

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Virology, Biomedical Sciences or a closely related field with demonstrated experience in antibody biology in infectious disease, autoimmunity, and/or cancer
  • 2+ years of postdoctoral research experience in academic or pharmaceutical industry settings
  • Specific knowledge and hand-on experience in the following areas are highly desirable:
    • Tissue culture, especially human primary cell culture, immune cell isolation from human whole blood/PBMC
    • Cell-based immune assays
    • High-throughput flow cytometry and Luminex
  • Highly proficient with computer software including GraphPad Prism, JMP, Flow Jo, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working under a quality system (e.g., GCLP or CLIA) preferred
  • Goal oriented, capable of prioritizing and working on multiple projects with changing priorities, and able to execute to tight timelines that meet company goals
  • Strong leadership, personal accountability and interpersonal skills, and capability for mentoring (direct reports and others)
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and verbal/written communication skills
